Assisting the Clan

How You Can Play Your Part

Every contribution, no matter how small, helps to build, preserve, and share the Gallagher story. You do not need to be a professional historian — curiosity and care are enough.

Ways You Can Help

You can support the work of the Gallagher Clan Organisation in many ways, including:

  • Collect your family tree
You may have reached a dead end (as we all do) — that’s perfectly fine.
  • Share family histories
Send us copies of any family histories you may have, or let us know of their existence.
  • Share online resources
Provide a link to your family history website, Facebook page, or similar resource.
  • Write for our blog
Contribute articles relating to Gallagher history, genealogy, or personal stories.
  • Collect and preserve stories
Gather interesting stories about Gallaghers — they do not need to be headline-grabbing to be valuable.
  • Harvest Gallagher data from lists
For example, telephone directories, business listings, old customer or supplier lists.
  • Preserve newspaper records
Birth, marriage, and death notices, obituaries, and other relevant items.
  • Help with records research
If you have basic IT skills, consider assisting with deeper research by extracting individual record information. Help may be available to give you some direction on how to use and develop your skills towards your research.
  • Report memorabilia and artefacts
If you come across interesting Gallagher memorabilia, we would be delighted to hear about it.
  • Take part in the DNA project
Help us better understand shared heritage through participation.
  • Get involved in any other way
If you have skills, interests, or time to offer, there is a place for you.

An Important Note on Recording Information

f you collect any data, stories, or material, please be sure to record:

  • Where you found it
  • When you found it

We hope shortly to provide a set of guidelines and directions to help contributors carry out this work in a consistent and reliable way. See Collection Directions and Guidelines
