Eric Gallagher – Peacemaker in Ireland
A former Moderator of the Methodist Church in Ireland (1967) Dr Eric Gallagher was the first Protestant churchman to meet with IRA representatives. A meeting occoured in Feakle, County Clare, Ireland in the 1970s in an unsuccessfully bid to broker a peace.
His father, Robert Gallagher, had also been Moderator of the Methodist Church in Ireland (1946).
